Hey :)
Did anyone ever stay at Les Sirenes Beach hotel in Djerba?
I'm going in the beginning of June, have never been in Djerba before but thought it was time to try something new :) So I'm interested in hearing about people's experiences..?

When I cam over from th UK last Nov i went to Djerba, the Hotls ar rally nice, dirct to th beach, all need a taxi to the town centres, the beaches ar rally nice, weathr is warmer and th wind blows constantly, i was in t shirt and flip flops in december and january.

hot water is tpid as most is via Solar panels, the town centres are about as lively as a poke in th eye and rubbish is strewn everywhere.

I hated every minute i was there, have bben back twice to pick hubby up and i just arrived he got int h car and i turnd around and drove back to anywhere rathr than Djerba!

Don't let my feelings put you off, you may love th place, it depends what you ar looking for/xpect and what suits you, for me its sitting in a caf overlooking th beach and as i was not a tourist i couldt do this excpt in the sunset bar!

it will be hot in june, should be busy, and if you wnat a hotl based hol, with th odd day into th cntre thn you will like djerba!

Thank you Roulla :)
Well, I really hope it's a nice place.. All we're looking for is basically a week of sun and relaxation and fun. So I hope Djerba will be good for that. Will there be nice beaches there? You don't sound too excited about this place Mellie, that makes me a little nervous if we picked the right place for our vacation :/

Sorry - don't know much about Les Sirenes now. I have always loved Djerba and friends who have been recently say it is lovely. For 4 years I used to spend every weekend and holiday there and found it wonderful - but haven't been back for a few years now. We will be going this summer and I am hoping it will be as good as it was. When I was there the casino and Djerba Explore etc were not there. There were no British tourists so I was a novelty and it is true to say it was a very quiet place - I liked that. I thought it was beautiful and the interior was sleepy. The beach area catered for the tourists, but away from the beach there was little evidence of the tourists. There are no real towns except the quiet and small Houmt Souk. I know there is a lot more there for tourists now than there was.

Hi Dinna

I really enjoyed my visits to Djerba too. I stayed in the Mouradi Djerba Menzel Hotel and the Djerba Paradise which was a timeshare hotel at the time.

different people like different things, bear in mind i wasn't there as a tourist, i was there livng there and on a day to day basis of "normal life" it was not for me, which is why I am back in Hammamet.

for beach holidays, staying mostly in/around the hotel it would be fine, there is some "nightlife", and both Midoun and Houmt Souk are small places, the markets are fun to shop at though (thurs and fri)

I am not in an ideal situation, me and the cats are in Hammamet and hubby is in djerba, but I jst really disliked the place.

It is called the island of dreams, all i dreamt of was getting out of there ASAP!!

you will have a great hol, it will be hot, and be aware that taxi's will drastically try and over charge you!!!

Thanks ladies for all of your responses :)
I guess it would be different to live there than just being on vacation. So yeah, here's hoping I'll love the place too :) My last vacations in Tunisia have been with a lot of drama bc of my ex bf, so I was just looking to go somewhere else and just enjoy the sun and the country and nothing else. Guess I needed a break from Sousse. So I'm looking forward to trying something new for a change :)

Are taxi drivers worse than in Sousse?
