Hi can anyone tell me if you need a surveyor or an enviromental health officer to visit your house to prove that there is enough room for you husband to live there for the visa app? iv been given this info by an immigration specialist but it seems a bit too far fetched and i cant call im till tomorrow and could do with your experience in this. Thanks x

Hi,

I did not have to do this, however I included photos of each room and my tenancy agreement and this was all fine, my ex got his visitors visa. This was 2 years a go, so things may have changed

good luck

Hi Kerry....im sure if you have a look there is a thread on this pretty recently...and yes there is certain criteria you have to fulfil as regards your property....it all depends if you own it yourself or its Council or its a private tenancy agreement....mine was my own so i provided my mortgage statement etc and also photos of each room of my house and a short description of each...

Hi Kerry.....i wouldnt want you to quote me on this cos mine was a different situation...as mine wasnt a council property...and as you can see from above both Lainie and I did different things yet we were both successful.... cos i DID provide photos etc and did NOT provide the layout....i think with a council property though you would need to provide a layout...the tenancy agreement and also possibly a letter from the Council that backups your statement that the property is large enough to accomodate your husband...there a a few people on here who have been more in your situation than i have and im sure theyll give you some advise....x

Hi Kerry,

I am a private tenant at my property and I contacted the council for them to do a home inspection report. The report isn't really confirming wo lives there etc. it basically states the conditions of the property confirming its not rat infested or roaches etc. mine was £178.00 so it's not cheap, it does suggest it on the supporting docs guidance but it's not essential YET and not everyone gets one.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/out-of-country/sup-docs-settlement.pdf

That's the link for the supporting documents guidance. X

My landlady has written a letter confirming the house is an adequate size, alongside the tenancy agreement, I think she is also in the process of writing to the estate agents to send me a copy of a floor plan, we have lived in the house 8 years (private tenancy), however the agreements are only for 6 months at a time, but they do get renewed, so I am enclosing the first ever agreement, the most recent one and a letter from when the rent increased. She also stated she has no problems whatsoever with my husband residing here and that she has never encountered any problems with the rent payments.

Hi Kerry, I am also at a council property and in the process of getting these documents together... So far I've got tennancy agreement, council tax forms.. I went to council office and they have said they can not write a letter to states who lives there as they just can't know for sure. However, my mum is going to write a letter of who lives here and include photos and hopefully I can get to the council this week to get them to write a letter to say that in a 4 bed property it can sleep 7 people therefore, there is no problem for my Husband to join me... etc etc and also try to get a floor plan from the council if they can. Hope that helps xx

I am hoping to apply in May... I will keep u updated.. Are you in the UK now? Do u live on your own? I am living with my Mum so it makes it alot easier as I don't have many outgoings etc. Just hope they dont increase the expected annually income anytime soon because that would set us right back. I have just started work after my course so will only be showing 3 months of everything.. However, the papers are just constantly on my mind! x

Haha! well my friend who is in the same situation as us only gave 3 months bank statements and pay slips because she had her work contract and letter from manager and could prove that she will a regular/stable income that was enough and they got the visa within 10 days! It can happen :) I will only be showing 3 because as I said I have only just started full time. Hopefully they don't increase it cos alot of us will be buggered! I do over time too but I think it still wouldn't make it to what they were suggesting..
When does your Husband have his test? Mine just got his results back and went to collect his certificate- he took a picture of it and sent it to me. Hes so proud of it haha! Fair play though to all these guys, doing a test in another language must be pretty scary! I wouldn't like to do it! xx

Take a photocopy of every page in your passport though, stamps etc... I have and also got it certified but I don't think it actually has to be certified... x

10 days?? Wow that is quick. Well done to them. I will also have my work contract and letter from manager so hopefull that will be enough. He takes his test on the 17th march so it's pushing it a bit to get the results back by the end of april. I will take photo copies and get them certified cos i dont want to take any chances. Im so nervous about the whole thing and like you it's all i can think about. I might not have a job soon if they find out that all i do at work is research for visa info lol x

Ive included letters, (recipient slips at my end and his), cards, phone records, the odd msn convo (not so many)i've focused mainly on showing the times/dates/duration of been online, I think they expect that sometimes couples may argue  , plane tickets, photos, accomodation confirmation, obviously all of our marriage documentation, and I have supporting letters from both me and hubby and mum, brother and father in law have also wrote letters. I'm flying out April 29th and submitting whilst I am there, so may see you there Kerry :D, and I am also stressing, but had some calming word from the lovely ladies on here, I think the more stressed/panicky you are this can reflect in the application itself, so I am having a serious chilling out at the moment.
