Ramadan in Tunis

I wish all Muslim readers of this blog the very best for the holy month of Ramadan. It is truly humbling to see friends and colleagues here fasting through the long and hot August days in Tunis and maintaining at the same time the warm and generous spirit of the Islamic holy month.

It has now been confirmed that the first day of Ramadan will be the 11th August.

Ramadan is a Lunar Calandar Month and is the holiest month in Islam.

During this month muslims will focus on faith, family and fasting. Ramadan is the party month also it is a time of music, food and gernerally being a better person all round.

Ramadan is a pillar of Islam the fasting is compulsory for those whom can. From sunrise till sundown not food or drink can be consumed. It is during this we focus on the needy and those who have less than ourselves.

Promoting English

Tunisia has long been a bilingual society (Arabic and French). It is rapidly becoming trilingual (Arabic, French and English). Young Tunisians have a higher level of English than their parents, with better access to information through the internet and better job prospects in a globalised world as a result.

Tunisia: New plans to improve our tourism product

The Tunisian government has agreed during a Ministerial Council on June 28, 2010, chaired by the President selection of new measures and actions to improve the Tunisian touristic product.

The Ministerial Council decided that:

Periodic updating of criteria for classification of hotels according to quality requirements.
Review the organizational framework of professional hotel manager with emphasis on professionalism to assume this responsibility.
