Monastir is one of the major tourist resorts in Tunisia and is located south of sousse in the Sahel (coast) region of Tunisia some 160+ Km from the Capital Tunis.

The city is the administrative centre for the Monastir governerate and also famous for being the hometown of the first President of Tunisia Habib Bourguiba which is a defining moment for this town as it is this that motivated much of the pride and investment that brings thousands of visitors each year.

Monastir is home to some 41,000 + people and is served by its own airport and transport links to the rest of Tunisia. If you are coming to Tunisia with a travel operator it is here that you will most likely find yourself arriving.

The city is located beside the beach hover the majority of new hotels are located in the Skanes suburb which is located to the north of the main town itself.
