The Bardo is now one of the largest museums in the world. Its reputation is the quality and variety of its archaeological artefacts and jewels from a Tunisia's rich history of several millennia and several civilizations.

Built in the second half of the nineteenth century, this space should respond to a destination palace rather than a cultural function, but became a museum in 1882, baptized as a result Alaoui museum - named after the ruler of the time, Ali Bey (1882-1902) - he underwent a successful use of transgression which made a mecca of culture and civilization.
