Tunis’ garden city
One of Tunis’ most attractive regions is to be given the status of Garden City.
The village of Sidi Bou Said had to meet 13 conditions in order to gain the prestigious title and it also went a little further.
Continual efforts have been made to improve the region’s environment including the planting of tress, painting artistic frescoes on the city walls and upgrading monuments.
Sidi Bou Said is a settlement positioned on a cliff and overlooks the Bay of Tunis as well as a Unesco protected site.
A meeting was held in the town hall on October 4th, where it was decided that Sidi Bou Said should be granted the title of Garden City.
The town was considered along with another 30 regions for the status.© Adfero | More Tunisia News
