Emirates chooses Tunisia
Tunisia is to benefit from a new service that will see Emirates Airlines providing flights to the capital Tunis.
The Dubai-based airline will fly to the city five times a week, going via Tripoli.
The move is a sign of Emirates' continued growth into the north of Africa and is yet more evidence of the increasing popularity of Tunisia as a holiday destination.
Flights will be operating to and from Tunis-Carthage International airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The prospect of supplying a link between Tunisia and Dubai has pleased both Tunisians and Emirates Airlines.
"I thank the government of Tunisia for giving Emirates an opportunity to serve this beautiful nation," His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, told website AME Info.
"The governments of the UAE and the Tunisian Republic have signed a bi-lateral agreement for enhanced economic relations, and I am confident that through our efficient and timely air links, Emirates will support this agreement and boost trade and commerce between the two nations."
The new route will be catered for by the modern Airbus A330-200.
