Tunisian Chef who lives and works in USA

Sami Fgaier was creator, owner and head chef of Le Chardonnay Restaurant until it closed in 2009. Twice named Silver Winner in the Best of Madison French category, he has been profiled in Madison Magazine, Brava and many other publications. His signature French-Mediterranean cuisine was recently called "the best meal I've ever eaten," by critic Mike Muckian.
Chef Sami grew up in Tunisia's Kerkennah Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea. From a family of master cooks, he learned the art of preparing fish and seafood from a young age. After earning computer science and business degrees at University of Wisconsin, he quit his first professional job after just five weeks when he realized his real passion was food. He waited tables, bartended, learned the restaurant business, and opened Le Chardonnay in 2003. An experienced, creative and exacting chef, he mastered the art of French-Mediterranean cooking and attracted a devoted following.
Since 2009, he has owned and operated Le Personal Chef, offering in-home dining services and gourmet catering. He recently attended Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in France, honing his already considerable skills in classic and modern French sauces.
